Delivery Method

Web course tools (WebCT) is an online medium that facilitates the learning process in an environment that is accessible and on demand. This environment is available twenty four (24) hours daily. It may be used as the full medium by which a course is taught or it may be used to supplement a class taught mostly face-to-face.

WebCT is a combined set of tools for developing and delivering interactive courses and its components over the Web. It allows for the distribution of static content (e.g., syllabi, schedules, announcements, and lecture notes), and also provides access to interactive tools (e.g., discussions, whiteboard, live chat, and online assessments).
WebCT was created by professors at the University of British Columbia, it allows instructors to design online courses, create their own websites, hold interactive and bulletin-board-type discussions and administer exams in an online environment. To put this information online the faculty or designer will enter the material into pre-prepared forms that will allow the virtual classroom to take shape.
There are certain requirements to use WebCT:

  • You must have a NSU email account.
  • You must have a means of connecting to the Internet.
  • Your computer must meet certain minimum requirements.
  • You also need a web browser that is compatible and properly configured.

If you have any questions regarding WebCT please contact the Online Computing Help Desk at help@nova.edu
