ASHA Foundation Scholarships
The American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation is a private nonprofit foundation dedicated to innovation in Communication Sciences and Disorders. It is funded, in part, by the tax-deductible contributions of individuals, corporations, and organizations. Size and quantity of funded awards are dependent on fundraising results and may vary accordingly.
Scholarship for International/Minority Students
Full-time international/minority graduate students studying communication sciences and disorders in the United States and demonstrating outstanding academic achievement are eligible to compete for a $2,000 - $4,000 scholarship. Application available April 16, Application deadline June 6.
Leslie Isenberg Scholarship for Students with a Disability
Full-time graduate students with a disability enrolled in a communication sciences and disorders program and demonstrating outstanding academic achievements. Funding: $2,000 - $4,000. Application available April 16, Application deadline June 6.
Student Research Grant in Early Childhood Language
Master’s and Doctoral students in communication sciences and disorders who want to conduct research in early childhood development are eligible to compete for a $2,000 grant for a proposed 1-year study Application available April 7, Application deadline June 6.
New Investigator Research Grant
New Scientists earning their latest degree in communication sciences within the last 5 years are eligible to compete for $5,000 grants to pursue research in audiology or speech-language pathology Application available March 17, Application deadline May 16.
MACS Scholarship
The Miami Area Communication Specialists offer a scholarship each year to a deserving graduate student in the south Florida area. Students must be enrolled in a graduate program, studying to be speech-language pathologists or audiologists. Information available at www.miamimacs.org

Awards are available for students enrolled in a graduate program (master’s or doctoral) as a full-time student. Applicant must be a member (or possess at least 1/4 degree of Indian blood) from a federally recognized American Indian tribe or Alaskan native group. The applicant must also apply for campus-based aid through the federal financial aid process. Funding: $250 - $10,000. Deadline: April 15 for Summer, June 1 for year (Sept. – May). FLASHA Foundation Scholarship Program
The Florida Association for Speech-Language pathologists and Audiologists offer several scholarships to graduate students in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology . Any master’s-level student with permanent residence in Florida and in full-time attendance in a speech and hearing program at any Florida college or university of acceptable professional recognition is invited to apply. 1. Critical Teacher Shortage Loan Forgiveness Program
This loan forgiveness program was created to attract qualified personnel to seek teaching employment in Florida publicly funded schools in designated critical teacher shortage areas (Speech-Language Pathology is included). The program provides funds to repay educational loans.
Awards will be made to an applicant who: 1. Is certified in a State Board of Education critical teacher shortage subject area; 2. Is under contract, for the first time to teach full-time in the critical teacher shortage subject area in which he or she is certified, and teaches at least 90 days of the school year; 3. Is teaching in a publicly funded Florida school; 4. Meets applicable general eligibility requirements for receipt of state aid; 5. Submits a completed application and required documentation by July 15 after the applicants first school year (at least 90 days) of eligible teaching service.
Award amounts: 1. $2,500 maximum per year for up to four years of undergraduate loans; 2. $5,000 maximum per year for up to two years for graduate loans.

2. Critical Teacher Shortage Tuition Reimbursement Program
The tuition reimbursement program was created to encourage certified employees of a publicly funded school to become certified in or gain a graduate degree in a critical teacher shortage subject area. This program provides funds for reimbursement of tuition for course(s) completed applicable to certification in a critical teacher shortage area.
Awards will be made to an applicant who: 1. Is certified in a State Board of Education subject area; 2. Is currently employed full-time in a publicly funded Florida school; 3. Completes approved critical teacher shortage subject area course(s) with a minimum 3.0 grade point average; 4. Meets applicable general eligibility requirements for receipt of state aid; 5. Submits a completed application by the September 15 deadline for courses taken during the previous fall, spring, and summer terms.
Award amounts: $78 maximum per credit hour for up to nine credit hours per academic year and thirty-six (36) credit hours maximum program participation.

3. Instructional Aide Scholarship for Areas of Critical State Concern
This program was created by the 2000 Florida Legislature to encourage instructional aids employed by a publicly funded school for at least one year to become certified in a critical teacher shortage area. This program provides funds for reimbursement of tuition for course(s) completed applicable to such certification.
Awards will be made to an applicant who: 1. Has been employed in a publicly funded school for at least one year as an Instructional Aide; 2. Completes course(s) as part of enrollment in a program leading to certification in an applicable critical teacher shortage area with a minimum 3.0 grade point average; 3. Meets applicable general eligibility requirements for receipt of state aid; 4. Submits a completed application by January 31 for fall courses and May 31, for winter and spring courses.
Award amounts: Applicants may receive tuition reimbursement up to $3,000 for tuition per year.
Hispanic Scholarship Fund
This foundation supports Hispanic higher education. Amounts awarded range from $1,000 - $2,500. To be eligible, at least one parent must be of Hispanic origin or both parents must be half Hispanic. Student must be enrolled full time in a degree seeking program at a U.S. accredited institution, and must have a minimum GPA of 2.7. Applications are available at www.hsf.net or by sending a self addressed stamped envelope to Hispanic Scholarship Fund, 55 Second Street, Suite 1500, San Francisco, CA 94105. Applications accepted August 1-October 15.

Awards available to graduate students of Hispanic ancestry who were born in, or have a natural parent who was born in Mexico, Spain, South America, Central America, or the Caribbean. Must apply as a high school senior or as a graduate student; 3.0 minimum GPA from the applicants undergraduate college/university; full-time college/university enrollment; United States citizen or eligible non-citizen; Florida Resident for a minimum of on year. Funding: Maximum four (4) semesters or six (6) quarters of graduate study. Applications are available from the Office of Student Financial Assistance
Nicole Weiser School Clinician Award
A one-time monetary award made by the NSU Programs in Speech-Language and Communication Disorders, for a currently enrolled student who is employed as a school-based clinician with at least one year of working experience. Funding: $2,000. Application.

An annual award made to an NSU student enrolled in the Programs in Speech-Language and Communication Disorders as an on line student. The applicants are evaluated on written essay and letters of recommendation. Funding: $1000. Application.
