ACE Lab Guidelines
Location
The ACE Lab is located in Room 236 of the Speech Language and Communication Clinic Building, 6100 Griffin Rd. The phone number is (954) 262-7773.
Staff
The ACE Lab Assistants are graduate students in the masters degree program for speech-language pathology.
Hours
The ACE Lab is open during regular clinic hours. Lab assistance is provided approximately 40 hours per week. Call the ACE Lab (954-262-7773) for exact hours.

ACE Lab Policies & Procedures
The ACE Lab houses electronic and non-electronic communication aids, numerous input devices, three Macintosh computers each equipped with Boardmaker, software, and an expanded keyboard. The Lab offers many valuable assessment materials, books, manuals, videotapes and newsletters related to Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). These resources are used by students, faculty and clients for educational, assessment and intervention purposes. The ACE Lab is located in room #236 at 6100 Griffin Road.
Students entering the lab are required to sign-in on the sheet located at the entrance. It is only necessary for students to sign-in once per day.
What can and cannot be signed-out of the building

* AAC devices, switches and switch/latch timers can be used in therapy or diagnostic sessions if students have made prior arrangements on the reserve sheets. Any resources removed from the Lab must be signed out in the black log book. Devices used in therapy sessions or evaluations need to be signed out at all times. Borrowed materials must be returned directly to the ACE Lab within 48 hours. If something is being returned after Lab hours, you must have a faculty member or front office staff person open the Lab. Students should leave a note in the lab assistants' mailboxes (located in the Westport student room) indicating the date and time of return.
INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS IN DIAGNOSTICS II, CLINIC LAB I OR CLINIC LAB II
1. Students who are interested in using devices in their therapy or diagnostic sessions must first obtain permission from Dr. Zangari, Dr. Lowe, or ACE lab assistants in order to coordinate scheduling.
2. Once reserved, schedules of devices used regularly in the clinic are posted.
3. Student clinicians who require assistance with programming for their therapy sessions must give at least 2-3 days advanced notice. Programming requests must be in written form and should include all necessary information (symbols, labels, messages, etc.).
Students are encouraged to come to the Lab and make use of the available resources. If you are interested in learning more about the Lab or a particular device please make an appointment with ACE lab assistants at (954) 262-7773.
Students failing to observe ACE Lab policies may have restricted access to the Lab.
